I was not at all surprised to see the overexcitement of our
Indian film stars to film the epic “THE MAHABHARATA”. Mahabharata is the most
complicated and requires in depth knowledge to understand , comprehend each parva. Because of
the vastness, twists and action packed episodes Mahabharata gains audience
although repetitively shown. Producers are trying to cash this by filming Mahabharata numerous times both on large and small screen.
Most of these miss the main conflict point of Mahabharata. It is
Dharma vs Adharma.
It not a war between brothers; Kauravas and Pandavas . Many
brothers fought till date for all reasons shown in Mahabharata but none of them
are as popular. It is because the conflict point of Mahabharata it gains such
respect.
I would like to add a few points with my limited
knowledge.
Hero of
Mahabharata: Who is the hero of Mahabharata?
Lord Krishna, Bheema or Arjun.
None of them. It is Yudistir(DharmaRaju). He never left path of Dharma,
that is the reason victory was with him. He always followed Dharma
irrespective of the consequences and situation. Lord Krishna left with Hobson’s choice . He has to support Dharma, hence was with Pandavas in the war. Dharma is the reason Yudistir was crowned as Chakravarthi (Emperor). Duryodhana is also aware that Yudistir will never relinquish Dharma. In an espisode when Arjun
and other Kuru elders declare that Pandavas completed their exile , to confirm that Duryodhana checks with Yudistir.
War of Mahabharata:
If Duryodhana is already aware that Yudistir
with his allies is so powerful , why did Duryodhan wage war? Duryodhana is
personification of Kali (reigning lord of the current ongoing Kali Yuga). Lord
Krishna too is aware that Duryodhana will never dare to come to a war alone .
That is the reason he ensure few of the mighty personalities like Bhisma ,
Drona , Aswathama , Salya supported him. But none of these who supported
Duryodhana for the reason of Dharma did not get any blemish even after Kurushektra. I will exclude
Karna from here , because Karna might be a great warrior but always supported adharma i.e Duryodhana. Bhisma and Drona chose the side of
Kauravas , it is because of their oath and serving the king.
Most devious man
of Mahabharata: It is not Sakuni , it is Dhritarastra. He is
always aware that Yudistir is right and his son Duryodhan is wrong. But still he turns a blind eye towards the atrocities done by his sons. Being king he has all powers to stop the war,
but love for his son blinds him mentally and allies with his son for all
evils against Pandavas. He plays a Jekyll and Hyde.
Finally , Mahabharata is not about six packs, beautiful looking Krishna or Draupadi saree strip or
exposing navel. It has large and indepth meaning to every action and episode. Producers should
definitely hire scholars to guide to film such an epic. It is better to pay the scholars than hiring technicians to film rich graphics or stunt man to direct heavy fights.
